Money

The Exchange Rate is 1 platinum = 10 gold = 100 silver = 1000 copper.

You can get this exchanged at the Exchange in the Halfling Trees

Money is obviously very important and there are a number of ways to gain it in Arklain:

  • Jobs: The professions can be seen on the Skills Page, choose one and have an Op add it to your Character sheet and you will be paid daily. Note: Slave upkeep is 1 gp/day, same as your earnings.
  • Questing: Questing is the most common way to amass money since treasure is often shared out at the end.
  • Services: Services such as healing and spells can cost money. Fixing/Selling weapons, armor, Cyborg parts, maps etc are also considered services.
  • Crime: Crime is... sometimes... lucrative. Stealing doesn't amount to much but once you get mugging... well you get the picture. Just don't get caught by town guards. ;)

Arena and Monster Hunts

Come one and all and battle at the Arena! There are three ways of gaining valuables through the arena, but of course it's not for everyone, the battles will be tough, but the victorious will benefit greatly.

You MUST have a DM there with you.
Ask the DMs and make an appointment with them.
Use CENTRAL TIME and DATE.
These appointments can be rescheduled within 24 hours of the event. Or they'll be cancelled.

Gladiator Battles:
Level to level fights, of course, mages cannot participate in this event. The winner of each round (after eliminating all others) has the choice to battle another NPC of their level or above without rest, if he or she wins they will receive prizes according to the level of battle. Of course, the more people you fight through the more gold you gain, but also the greater chance for injury. (Deaths are taken as fainting)

Monster Arena:
This is the real deal, if you want adventure, then this is your game. Monster Arena provides monsters for you to battle, you will fight in three rounds, each round consisting of a number battles. The first round is fairly simple, then it becomes progressively harder. There is no chance for rest between the battles you will fight so choose items and the like wisely. You can die in Monster Arena, it is not a fainting injury. The details are listed below:

Note: Any items dropped by enemies/found may be kept by the fighter.

Round I: Single Fighter ONLY
10 Battles (consecutive battles with option to escape)
Monster Encounters Level 1 - 5
Prize haul 500 gold for finished round
For every level over 5 your prize haul is deducted by 50 gold

Round II:
7 Battles (consecutive battles with option to escape)
Monster Encounters Level 3 - 7
Prize haul 2000 gold for finished round
For every level over 15 your prize haul is deducted by 50 gold

Round III:
5 Battles (consecutive battles with option to escape)
Monster Encounters Level 5 - 9
Prize Haul 5000 gold for finished round
For every level over 25 your prize haul is deducted by 50 gold

Special Rounds:
Dragon Battles: Prize haul by dragon type, generally around 3000 - 7000 gold, all dragons are adults.
Group Rounds: Prize divided amongst groups, encounters vary.

Monster Hunters:
People that hunt monsters for the Arena, you must not kill the monster, the DM will describe the monster to you and if you think it is weak enough, you must make a grapple check (This is equivalent to a netting, it does not mean you're touching the monster physically, but the check is the same, and you must declare this is a CATCH GRAPPLE or the DM will assume you are touching). The check is !check str versus touch AC of creature (AC without any armor, only dex and dodge) The creature then has a chance to struggle with its own str check. If it succeeds it breaks loose.

Monsters pay differently by type and level. More coming soon.
